Educating teachers.
Liberating students.

Images of racial violence and white supremacy subsume us. We’re inundated, drowning, heartbroken. There’s a newness and a nuance to this moment, but it’s commingled with fear. Can we hope? Can we dare?

Like hope and daring, education is a practice towards liberation. School is the place where students have the opportunity to both “read words, and read the world.” But, school is also a place where racism is entrenched—in pedagogy, curriculum, exclusionary discipline practices, and in the implicit and explicit biases of the community.

Teachers want and need the skills and tools to teach anti-racist curriculum. At The Future Perfect, we work with educators through a community-based process of education, practice, and reflection towards that brave and graceful ideal.

As teachers, parents, and caregivers, the impact we seek to make is in children’s daily lived experiences.

In our homes, we tell our children that we love them exactly as they are, and that we love whoever they are becoming. At The Future Perfect, that’s what we’re working to make sure students experience in the classroom: a radical belonging and acceptance that creates the framework for all other interactions. A classroom that enjoys them, encourages them, challenges them, and prepares them. Because, the world outside our doors may or may not do those things, but when our love of self and others is well-established, our identities serve as protection.

We know what we want for “our” kids, and we also know that all kids are our kids. The future, as we move towards making it more perfect, depends on our work today.

We facilitate culturally responsive teacher cohorts as The Future Perfect. You can find out more about our evolving curriculum here. You can connect with us to ask more questions or share ideas here. And, you can start the process of joining us here.
